Teaching

I began teaching as a teenager,  but it wasn’t until I started at music college and began teaching more regularly that it became something I really felt passionate about. I am keen to help my students discover their passion for music, whatever that may look like. I encourage individuality and do not see music education as something linear. We all learn differently and a bit of creativity can be transformative to a student’s experience. I am really interested in community arts engagement and endeavour to make an impact on education through music. I believe in the transformative effects of music and feel that all children should have the opportunity to participate in music making. 

I channel this into my one to one teaching, where I aim to nurture creativity and passion, and then allow technique to develop as a result of this. No one can deny that music requires hard work but we must enjoy what we are working towards In order to truly excel. Music is very personal so I am keen to assist my students in discovering what it means to them and allowing this to define their journey.
